Those going should definitely learn cultural points. With current over tourism doing so will improve your trip and make life for the Japanese better. Remember English is not commonly spoken and when it is may not be fluent. 7 Eleven's have international ATMs. You can also get food other than Japanese as well. I ate good Middle Eastern food too. Be kind to Kyoto, tourism throws a lot at the residents and we want to lower the impact.
